A former manager at First Commonwealth Bank is accused of stealing more than $31,000 from dead customers’ accounts in the span of just one month.

Jeri Mains, who worked at the bank’s Westmoreland County Derry Township branch in Pennsylvania, allegedly began stealing on April 1st after withdrawing more than $4,500 in cash from a dead customer’s account, reports CBS Pittsburgh.

A couple of days later, authorities allege that Mains forged a teller’s signature and pocketed more than $1,300 from another deceased customer’s account. Police say surveillance footage shows that Mains subsequently deposited the funds into her own account at First Commonwealth.

Authorities also allege that on April 8th, Mains forged another bank employee’s signature to drain about $2,200 while stealing close to $5,000 from another account. Two weeks later, Mains allegedly took out $10,000. And on May 1st, Mains allegedly withdrew $9,000 after forging the signature of an employee who wasn’t on the bank’s premises at the time.

Police say the bank flagged the suspicious transactions at the end of May, following an internal investigation. Mains, who is no longer working at First Commonwealth Bank, is now facing multiple charges, including theft and forgery.

The bank says all impacted accounts have been fully reimbursed.

The First Commonwealth Bank is the 126th-largest bank in the country, with $12.311 billion in total assets, according to the Federal Reserve.
