Algorand Just Made Quantum Resistance Native

Algorand’s (ALGO) developers are now fully dedicated towards getting ahead of the elliptic curve, rolling out a key consensus upgrade right away. Up until now, Algorand’s transactional fee was a constraint: each having the same fee not depending on what the transfer is really for, or how much space the data consumed in the concrete block.

Algorand’s Inner Transfers & Fixed-Point Multipliers

Inner transactions on-chain have been an escape hatch, but even those have operated in compliance with the rules of one-transfer-one-fee. This time, Algorand’s v 5.0.0 chain upgrade introduces a fresh mechanism with a fixed-point multiplier on the minimum fee, expressed in millionths.

An ordinary transaction can have a usage of 1,000,000 and therefore costs one min-fee. Algorand’s dev team assured that the new ‘free’ allowance won’t be any smaller than what it was before: at least 1,024 bytes of note, 2,048 bytes of application arguments, three extra program pages & 1,000 bytes of LogicSig per transaction.
