Bitcoin surged beyond the $64,000 threshold on Tuesday, recording gains exceeding 1% during the trading session. The leading cryptocurrency stood alone among major digital assets in posting notable upward movement as broader market sentiment turned bearish.

Ethereum declined by approximately 0.5% to settle just beneath the $1,900 level. XRP experienced losses exceeding 1%, trading below the $1 mark and registering a weekly decline surpassing 2%, positioning it as the poorest performer among major cryptocurrencies.
Dogecoin retreated approximately 0.5% to 7 cents. Both BNB and Tron recorded marginal declines, while Solana maintained stability around the $76 price point.
Among smaller-cap tokens, Hyperliquid’s HYPE emerged as a standout performer, advancing nearly 1% during the session and accumulating 7.5% gains over the preceding week.
FxPro analyst Alex Kuptsikevich noted that Bitcoin has traded beneath its 50-day moving average for four consecutive sessions. He emphasized that bearish momentum dominates both intermediate and long-term timeframes unless the price escapes the $62,000 to $65,000 consolidation zone.
Mining Industry Pivots Toward Artificial Intelligence
Bitcoin mining companies with public listings have reduced their aggregate hashrate by 21% over a nine-month period. This strategic reallocation stems from unfavorable mining profitability metrics and intensifying competition from the artificial intelligence industry for both investment capital and energy resources, Miner Weekly reports.
AI-focused platform Venice, launched by cryptocurrency veteran Erik Voorhees, announced it has exceeded $100 million in annualized revenue. The platform’s native VVV token rallied 10% during the session, reaching approximately $13.30.
Equity Futures Retreat on Middle East Geopolitical Risk
U.S. equity index futures declined during early Asian market hours on Tuesday. S&P 500 Futures retreated 0.4%, Nasdaq 100 Futures dropped 0.8%, while Dow Jones Futures shed 0.1%.

The losses extended a negative session on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite each declined between 0.3% and 0.5%.
Energy equities represented the sole S&P 500 sector posting gains, advancing 0.9% as crude oil prices jumped more than $2 per barrel.
Brent crude climbed above the $91 per barrel mark. President Trump issued threats of military intervention against Oman should it obstruct U.S. diplomatic efforts regarding Iran. Additionally, Iranian state media confirmed the detention of an oil tanker owned by UAE interests.
Rising oil prices drove the 30-year Treasury yield to 5.31%, marking its highest point in approximately two decades.
Market participants are focused on a crowded calendar of retail sector earnings reports. Walmart, Home Depot, and Target are all slated to announce quarterly results this week.
Federal Reserve meeting minutes are scheduled for release on Wednesday. The central bank maintained its benchmark rate in the 3.50% to 3.75% range at the July policy meeting, though the decision revealed division, with three committee members advocating for an increase.
Disappointing July retail sales figures and employment metrics have intensified concerns regarding U.S. consumer resilience as earnings season approaches.
