FTX $900M Distribution and the Creditor Deadline Explained

The FTX Recovery Trust will distribute approximately $900M to creditors on July 31, 2026, its fifth payout round, pushing total recoveries to nearly $10Bn since the exchange’s November 2022 collapse.

For creditors who have not yet completed verification, a hard six-month countdown to claim eligibility begins on the same date, according to the FTX Recovery Trust’s official press releases published via PR Newswire.

This latest FTX news drop comes as the crypto market climbed +0.5% overnight, with the total market cap at $2.29 trillion. 24-hour trading volume across crypto sits at $59.1Bn.

🚨 JUST IN: FTX will begin distributing approximately $900 million to creditors tomorrow as part of its fifth payout round.

    What the Fifth Distribution Covers

The record date for this round was June 16, 2026, meaning only creditors whose claims were verified and registered on the official claims docket by that date are eligible for the July 31 payment.

FTX’s three designated Distribution Service Providers, BitGo, Kraken, and Payoneer, will handle the actual fund transfers, with eligible creditors typically receiving funds within one to three business days of the distribution date.

To participate in this or any future distribution, creditors must complete Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, the identity-check process required under anti-money-laundering regulations, submit required tax forms, and fully onboard with one of the three providers via the FTX Customer Portal.

FTX has been explicit: once funds are transferred to a Distribution Service Provider, responsibility for access and security shifts entirely to the claimant.

The Six-Month Deadline Creditors Cannot Afford to Ignore

UPDATE: 📉 FTX begins an approximately $900M creditor payout Friday and starts a forfeiture clock.

Eligible creditors who cleared the June 16 compliance requirements receive funds via BitGo, Kraken, or Payoneer within three business days.

Creditors who missed the June 16 record date still have a path to future distributions, but the window is finite. Those who have not completed pre-distribution requirements face a six-month deadline from July 31, 2026, to complete onboarding or risk losing access to their claim recoveries under the estate’s rules.

For creditors in blocked or restricted jurisdictions, that pressure is compounded by regulatory and banking constraints FTX cannot override.

There is also a specific timing risk for anyone holding a transferred or secondary-market claim. Distributions are paid only to the transferee holder recorded on the official claims register, and a 21-day notice period must lapse without objection before the relevant record date.

Cumulative Recovery Context for FTX Investors

Prior distributions have already pushed many creditor classes past their filed principal. According to the FTX Recovery Trust’s March 2026 announcement, US Customer Entitlement Claims and General Unsecured Claims reached 100% cumulative recovery after the fourth distribution, while Convenience Claims, smaller retail balances processed under an expedited track, reached a cumulative 120% recovery.

The fifth round will add incremental distributions on top of those figures for classes still below their full entitlement, specifically dotcom customer claims that stood at 96% cumulative after round four.

That said, 100% recovery on an “allowed claim” is not the same as recovering the dollar value of assets held at peak prices. Creditors whose portfolios were worth multiples more in late 2021 are technically made whole on filed claim amounts.

However, the opportunity cost and tax complications remain their problem, a distinction worth keeping in mind when comparing FTX’s outcome to other crypto bankruptcies.
