OG.com Secures SEC Registration to Launch Stock Futures Trading in the United States

    Key Highlights

    • OG.com, the derivatives platform under Crypto.com, has completed SEC registration for security futures trading.
    • Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek announced the approval enables the platform to provide single-stock futures to US traders.
    • The firm is pursuing regulatory clearance from both the SEC and CFTC for single-stock perpetual futures contracts.
    • Competing platforms including Coinbase and Kraken have pursued comparable strategies to integrate stock products into crypto exchanges.
    • Earlier this month, Robinhood established a partnership with both Crypto.com and OG.com, acquiring equity positions in each entity.

The US derivatives division of Crypto.com has obtained regulatory authorization from the Securities and Exchange Commission to provide stock futures contracts. This division conducts operations under the OG.com brand.

On Thursday, Crypto.com’s CEO Kris Marszalek announced the development through a message posted on X. He confirmed that the SEC had formally recognized the platform’s registration documentation.

Today, the SEC acknowledged the Form 1-N of our futures exchange through https://t.co/iXoLbdBMxc and we are now authorized to bring single-stock futures to the market. We are working with the SEC and the CFTC to offer single-stock perps in the US, which will combine the…

The trading venue, officially designated as North American Derivatives Exchange, submitted Form 1-N to the SEC. This particular form serves as the registration mechanism for entities seeking to operate as national securities exchanges for futures trading.

The documentation was lodged on Monday. Two days afterward, on September 16, the SEC formally acknowledged receipt. The registration became effective on September 14.

Platform Pursues Perpetual Stock Futures Authorization

According to Marszalek, the firm’s ambitions extend beyond conventional stock futures products. Crypto.com is actively engaging with both the SEC and CFTC to secure approval for single-stock perpetual futures trading in US markets.

Perpetual futures represent derivative contracts without predetermined settlement dates. While these instruments have become standard in cryptocurrency markets, they remain relatively uncommon for individual equity trading within the United States.

Marszalek indicated that these proposed products would merge innovations from digital asset trading with traditional US capital markets. He expressed these views in his Thursday morning post on X.

The platform has already secured CFTC registration as both a designated contract market and derivatives clearing organization. This regulatory foundation positions the exchange to broaden its product offerings.

    Competitors Pursue Parallel Strategies

Crypto.com isn’t alone in attempting to bridge cryptocurrency and equity trading. Earlier this month, Coinbase submitted its own registration notice for equity perpetual futures products.

Faryar Shirzad, Coinbase’s Chief Policy Officer, noted that the platform awaits final CFTC approval. In March, Coinbase had already rolled out stock perpetual futures for its international customer base outside US jurisdiction.

Prior to that development, Coinbase introduced US customers to regulated cryptocurrency futures and around-the-clock equities trading with 24/5 availability in February. The firm has methodically expanded its equity-focused offerings throughout this year.

Kraken has similarly moved into this market segment. The platform formed an alliance with the London Stock Exchange to facilitate trading of tokenized UK equities.

This initiative encompasses 24/5 trading capabilities on the exchange’s after-hours platform. Launch of this service is anticipated in 2027.

Robinhood has established its own connection with Crypto.com and OG.com. At the beginning of this month, Robinhood committed to directing certain event contracts, beginning with football-related markets, through OG.com’s infrastructure.

Under the terms of this arrangement, Robinhood obtained ownership stakes in both Crypto.com and OG.com. This transaction occurred following OG.com’s separation as a standalone trading entity.

The SEC’s formal recognition of Nadex’s registration represents the latest development in this evolving market trend. Cryptocurrency platforms are persistently exploring additional avenues to incorporate equity-based instruments alongside their core digital asset offerings.
