Zilliqa just hit the emergency brakes. The project has suspended native ZIL transfers after a serious flaw in its Ledger hardware wallet app left users’ private keys exposed — a rare and nasty wallet-side failure that’s now dragging a major exchange into the mix.

South Korea’s biggest crypto exchange quickly placed ZIL under cautionary status and kicked off a delisting review. While trading hasn’t been cut yet, the move signals serious scrutiny around security and investor risk. ZIL sank roughly 10% on the news as traders scrambled to digest the fall-out.
How Bad Is This Bug?
The issue stems from how the Ledger app handled randomness in transaction signatures. After roughly five native transactions signed through the app, attackers could potentially derive the private key using standard computing power. Zilliqa warned that any affected account should be considered compromised, with the leaked signature data permanently on-chain.

EVM-compatible transactions and software wallets appear unaffected. Zilliqa and partners like KuCoin have been tracing stolen funds, with the bug publicly disclosed around July 21.
