Keone Hon, co-founder of Monad and general manager of the Monad Foundation, sits down with Alessandro at Monad’s OPEN conference in Singapore.
Asked whether there’s a chance Bitcoin isn’t number one by 2030, Keone says “I think so”: Bitcoin is “amazing as like digital gold, but it’s very simple in what it does.” He says Monad is more performant than Solana, that many projects that raised when Monad did “don’t even exist anymore”, and on MON’s price: “I can’t control the prices.”

The numbers: Monad Labs raised $225M in a round led by Paradigm (Monad Labs, 9 Apr 2024). In Nov 2025, 85,820 people committed $269M to the MON sale on Coinbase at $0.025 a token (Monad Foundation). On 22 Oct 2026 MON traded at $0.0210, below that sale price (CoinGecko). Team and investor tokens start to unlock on 24 Nov 2026 (Monad Foundation); Messari and Tokenomist put that release at about 16.8B MON.
