While Hyperliquid is widely known for its innovative decentralized perpetual futures exchange, the platform is drawing attention among crypto investors for what is seen as its rising staking offerings. This development has been disclosed by blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, which today spotted a crypto whale who cashed out HYPE tokens valued at $32.87 million and pumped them into the Hyperliquid platform for staking.
Hyperliquid is a Layer-1 blockchain built to power a DEX (decentralized exchange) for perpetual futures and spot trading. Powered by its native HYPE token, Hyperliquid allows people to trade cryptos with leverage while safeguarding self-custody of their assets.
Staking Activity Surges in Hyperliquid
Besides being recognized as the leading decentralized perpetuals exchange in the crypto market (according to the latest DeFiLlama metrics), Hyperliquid is rising to be one of the major platforms for staking rewards for crypto clients who want profitable custodial staking experiences.
Lookonchain has proven this growing trend. Today, the analyst identified a crypto institutional customer who withdrew 557,902 HYPE tokens worth $32.87 million from the FalconX digital asset trading platform and deposited the funds into Hyperliquid for staking. Also yesterday, July 24, Lookonchain spotted another whale who staked 2.93 million HYPE tokens into Hyperliquid. The institutional client withdrew funds valued at $172 million, equivalent to 2.93 million HYPE tokens, from 19 wallets and deposited them into Hyperliquid for staking capital lockup, as per the analyst’s observation.
This trend shows strategic institutional investors are increasingly embracing crypto staking to earn returns, with many choosing to park millions of dollars into Hyperliquid as their preferred staking platform, attracted by its promising reward-generation capabilities.
 
HYPE Gathers Momentum
Whales normally influence market sentiment, with the Lookonchain data above indicating the HYPE token gaining attention among large investors who choose it to stake funds into Hyperliquid’s staking operations. This suggests that while strategic whales have an optimistic view of future movement in the cryptocurrency market, the HYPE token is becoming one of their top-performing crypto targets.
According to last week’s research published by Standard Chartered Bank, HYPE is among the leading five cryptos, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP, with the top capability to deliver massive gains. Despite the persistence of the wider crypto market slump, HYPE is one of the top profitable assets, with its annual return currently standing at 33.6%, beating Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP, which currently experience 44.3%, 48.8%, 58.1%, and 63.6% annual losses, respectively, as per CoinGecko metrics.
